Horace Benoit Jr. operating room case technician at Our Lady of Lourdes Regional Medical Center, never thought he would work for 55 years but is happy to be celebrating another milestone anniversary.
In the Beginning
Benoit’s first day of work was at the original Our Lady of Lourdes campus located on Saint Landry Street, where he worked in the dietary department.
“Everyone was so friendly. They treated me well and welcomed me with open arms,” Benoit says.
The operating room has changed over Benoit’s decades of service. “In the OR back in the day, everyone did their own parts, now everyone is dependent on one another and we work as a team,” he says.
Working in Healthcare
Benoit grew up in Lafayette and has never considered living or working anywhere else. “The people I work with keep me going. I stay here for my doctors and patients,” Benoit says.
Benoit’s work ethic speaks for itself. He is known to always get the job done and his patients love him, which encourages him to always do his best.
Plans for the Future
Benoit describes himself as a happy-go-lucky homebody who loves to work. When asked about his plans for the future he says, “I’ve been married to Lourdes for 55 years, so it’s time to give some time back to my wife.”
Benoit plans to take some time for himself moving forward and spend more time with his wife and family members.
During October, our health system celebrates team member anniversaries, recognizing those who have achieved milestone years of service within our organization. We will be featuring team members across our ministry all month long!
