Brad Rodrigue, MD, has served in our ministry for 15 years.
“I chose to work at Our Lady of the Lake because of my love for Louisiana, LSU and Baton Rouge, as well as proximity to family and the opportunity to work in a Catholic organization,” Dr. Rodrigue says.
“I choose to stay because I believe in the mission and the service and superior care we provide to our community. I enjoy working in the Baton Rouge market, it’s a very large market with many providers and resources, yet a very supportive environment that tends to feel much smaller than it is.”
During his time with our ministry, Dr. Rodrigue has held two distinctly different roles, working on the inpatient side as a hospitalist and now serving as a primary care physician. Dr. Rodrigue’s favorite part of his job is getting to know the patient on a much more intimate and long-term basis in their healthcare journey.
Rising to the Challenge
Dr. Rodrigue shares a memory from during one his most challenging times as a primary care physician: “An unforgettable memory for me was being on the activation team during Hurricane Gustav, only having been on the job for a little over a month, it was a massive challenge losing hospital power in our pre-generator phase, but it was an unbelievable opportunity to bind together, support other team members and provide vital care to our hospitalized patients.”
Special Intentions
Listening plays a big role in Dr. Rodrigue’s professional life.
“I spend the time necessary with the patient to get to know them fully by listening to their needs and concerns,” he says.
Dr. Rodrigue’s priorities have changed over his career. He now prioritizes focusing on his family and his faith.
“I have been very intentional in trying to have deeper relationships with God, my wife and my kids. This allows me to be well-positioned to serve my patients in the way they deserve,” he says.
