For Linda Smith, CNA, her patients are her number one priority as she oversees the telemetry unit at St. Francis Medical Center.
“I ensure floor coverage, speak to patients to ensure their care is satisfactory while helping CNAs on the floor when needed,” Linda says. “I also assist with the EKGs and assist nurses and doctors when needed.”
Linda has been working as part of the St. Francis family for 10 years.
“I was inspired to do this work because I enjoy helping others, no matter their age,” she says. “I love encouraging people because you never know—I may be the only smiling face they see or remember for that day.”
For Linda, Black History Month serves as recognition for those who may be overlooked at other times. It shines a spotlight on those who work behind the scenes.
The best advice Linda has received is to care for our patients as if they were her family, which is what she does every day.
