For Little Bodies and Minds
The interior design of the hospital is kid-focused, connecting both Louisiana’s natural beauty and the proud spirituality of our health system. Every floor represents a unique ecosystem.
Throughout the hospital, you’ll find special team members who work with patients to teach families everything from the importance of handwashing to not being afraid to get an IV or take medicine.
Supporting Big Imaginations
Playtime is so important to children, which is why we have a playroom on every floor. When kids are in their rooms, they can tune in to our special Child Life Streaming TV channel, where we air hospital-produced activities, exercises and kid-focused health programming. We also have a special channel in partnership with the Baton Rouge and San Diego zoos, which offers 24/7 virtual field trips.
Family-Centered Care
Having a child in our hospital is a healing journey for the whole family, and we’ve created a family-centered environment to help. We offer private rooms for just your family unit, all specially designed with a clinical zone, private bath and your own A/C control. We make a point to keep these rooms a safe space for the patients. Children should always feel safe in their room rather than being afraid when team members check on them. We have procedure rooms on each floor for things like lab draws, IVs or more invasive treatments. We also provide family areas where adults can take a break, do laundry, grab a bite to eat and perhaps talk to other parents who may be facing an illness with their own child.
All of the attention to detail and our unique environment allows our physicians and team to deliver the highest quality of care tailored specifically to families and their children. Our goal and ultimate reward is sending them home in better health so they can simply be a kid again.
