Cora Griffin has devoted 45 remarkable years to Our Lady of the Lake, serving patients, mentoring colleagues and embodying our faith-driven healthcare ministry.

Answering a Call to Care

Cora says her journey began with a calling.

“I felt called to help others,” she says. “I wanted to work for an organization built on faith and compassion. I found that here.”

Over the years, the people she works with have become family, and her commitment to serving others has never wavered.

A Career of Growth and Connection

Throughout her tenure, Cora has held several roles, from certified nursing assistant to customer service representative and now as a monitor tech at Our Lady of the Lake Regional Medical Center. She cherishes the opportunity to work with people of different cultures, backgrounds and generations.

“It has been amazing to watch and be a part of the many changes in technology,” she says.

Some of Cora’s greatest moments have been supporting colleagues through life’s most difficult times, as well as celebrating their biggest blessings. Being part of a hospital that continues to grow and reach more of the community has been a blessing she holds dear.

What Makes Our Lady of the Lake Special

For Cora, Our Lady of the Lake is more than a building. It’s a place of healing, hope, community and faith.

“We are neighbors who care for neighbors,” she explains. She appreciates the deep connections the hospital has in the community, noting that many patients are also people she sees at church, grocery stores and community events.

The Heart of a Monitor Tech

As a monitor tech, Cora provides nurses with the awareness they need to intervene when life-sustaining measures may be required.

“We work behind the scenes, but what I do is important,” she says. “The smallest change can mean the biggest difference in a patient’s outcome.”

Mentors and Words of Wisdom

Cora credits Rosa Franklin and Tiffany Ross as mentors who encouraged her throughout her career. Their advice, “There is nothing you cannot do if you put your mind to it,” has guided her and inspired her to do the same for others.

She offers this advice to aspiring team members:

“All your strength comes from the Lord, and trust in the Lord with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge Him, and He shall direct thy paths.” – Proverbs 3:5-6

Cora’s dedication, skill and faith-driven service make her an invaluable part of the Our Lady of the Lake team.
