Jacquelyn Taylor’s role as an orthopedic/pain management LPN at Our Lady of the Angels involves providing compassionate care to patients undergoing orthopedic treatments and managing pain, ensuring they receive the best possible outcomes.

Inspiration Rooted in Love

Jacquelyn’s path into healthcare was deeply influenced by a personal experience with her mother. In 2003, Jacquelyn’s mother was diagnosed with cancer, and she requested Jacquelyn as her caregiver.

“My mommy was my inspiration to pursue my nursing career in healthcare,” Jacquelyn shares. “I needed the medical foundation to provide her with the best care any money could buy.”

Though Jacquelyn’s mother passed away in 2004, her memory continues to motivate Jacquelyn in her daily work. “Her love and strength guide me every day as I provide care to others.”

Throughout her career, Jacquelyn has been supported by family, friends and co-workers. Their faith in her has been a driving force behind her perseverance, and they continue to be her biggest supporters.

Black History Month: A Daily Celebration

For Jacquelyn, Black History Month is not just limited to February — it’s a year-round celebration.

“Black History for me and my family is every day,” Jacquelyn says. “We educate anyone interested in the rich history of my ancestors, from medical home remedies to the legacy of our food that’s been passed down through generations.”

One such moment that stands out to Jacquelyn is when Robert F. Smith, a Black billionaire, paid off the student loans for all of Morehouse College’s graduates. “Those students were given an equal opportunity that under any other circumstance they would have never received.”

She also mentions Martin Luther King Jr., whose famous words still resonate with her today.

“I have a dream that my four little children will one day live in a nation where they will not be judged by the color of their skin but by the content of their character.”

Prioritizing Self-Care: A Vital Practice

In a demanding healthcare role, Jacquelyn understands the importance of self-care. She says self-care allows herself to remain dedicated to her patients and career, while maintaining her own well-being.

“Every day is a self-care day for me,” she says. “You have to be on the team of ‘me’ because you are the only one who knows what you truly need and want.”

A Legacy of Encouragement and Limitless Potential

One of the core messages Jacquelyn instills in her children and grandchildren is a powerful reminder to never limit themselves.

“Never stoop down to the size of a pond when God created 50 seas.” This means that there are no limits to what one can achieve. “Never allow anyone—not even me—to place your dreams in a bottle,” she encourages.
