At Our Lady of the Lake Children’s Health, pediatric care isn’t confined to a single building — it’s a coordinated network that extends across clinics and the communities we are privileged to serve.

Since 2019, when we opened our Our Lady of the Lake Children’s Hospital, the connection between our hospital and network of pediatric clinics has grown stronger than ever.

Our seamless system of care ensures kids receive the support they need, whether they’re seeing their primary care provider or requiring specialized treatment.

More Than Just a Hospital

Pediatric care has long been a cornerstone of Our Lady of the Lake Health. For decades, the pediatric hospital-within-a-hospital provided exceptional care for children, laying the foundation for what would become Our Lady of the Lake Children’s Health.

The vision for a dedicated children’s hospital grew out of a desire to better meet the unique needs of kids and families. By creating a space designed just for them, with state-of-the-art technology, specialized teams and child-friendly environments, Our Lady of the Lake took a major step forward in fulfilling that mission.

One thing has remained constant: the deep connection between the hospital and pediatric clinics. These clinics are often the first stop for families seeking care for their children.

A Commitment to Excellence

The relationship between our hospital and clinics isn’t just about logistics — it’s about building trust and providing continuity of care. Whether it’s a baby in need of specialized NICU care, a toddler requiring follow-up after surgery or a teenager managing a chronic condition, our hospital and clinics work as one team to ensure every child receives the care they need close to home.

Over the last five years, we have:

  • Improved care coordination: Streamlined referral processes allow clinics and the hospital to collaborate more efficiently, ensuring families face fewer delays in accessing specialized care.
  • Expanded access to specialists: With video consultations and satellite specialty clinics, we’ve brought hospital-level expertise closer to where patients live, avoiding the need for long-distance travel.
  • Enhanced training and resources: Pediatricians and teams at our clinics receive ongoing education and support from experts, ensuring our front-line primary care providers stay up to date on the latest advances in pediatric care.

Putting Families First

The hospital and clinics embrace a family-centered approach to care, focusing not only on treating illnesses but also on promoting overall health and well-being.

Our clinics are often where parents form their first relationship with our health system, and we take that responsibility seriously. By connecting families with the right resources — whether that’s a pediatrician for a wellness check, a specialist for an advanced diagnosis or a hospital team ready to provide life-saving care — we ensure they feel supported every step of the way.

We understand that the health of a child is directly related to factors such as school environments, play spaces, sports, safe communities and access to healthy nutrition. Our pediatricians, specialists and social workers are always looking for ways to advocate for children and link families to resources.

Looking Ahead

Our Lady of the Lake Children’s Health strives to be a true partner in every family’s health journey. As we celebrate the connections we’ve built, we remain focused on what comes next: expanding access, advancing care and ensuring every child receives the support they deserve, wherever they need it.
