Why did you choose your specialty?
During early years of my medical school, I was more fascinated by the physiology of endocrine system including nutrition and metabolism which have profound effect on most of the organ systems. Glucose regulation and diabetes were the initial enticing chapters to drive me into this field, however now I am more interested in a pituitary disease and neuro endocrinology.
What do you like most about being a doctor?
Being able to apply knowledge and skill directly to human biology, which I think is unique among sciences.
If you weren’t a doctor, what would you do?
If I weren’t a doctor, I would likely be a mathematician.
How do you ensure your patients feel heard during their visit?
I give them enough time to explain their feelings at the beginning of the visit. After that, I will explain my opinions and provide them with the different options for investigation and treatment and let them decide the next step while answering questions and providing feedback. I always give them time to express any other concerns at the end of the visit.
What is something that people may be surprised to know about you?
Well, it may not be a surprise, but I watch, read and follow American comics and science fiction very closely.
Why did you choose the Medical Group?
I did my fellowship training at LSU in Shreveport, and I felt like not going too far from home when I joined the group while also having the opportunity to help the same patient population from who I learned a lot during the training. I remain employed with the group because of great support system, excellent benefits, and welcoming to make any changes needed to make for positive impact in patient care.
